Be Disruptive on Monday
Hats off to pro-immigrant activists who are organizing a massive strike for Monday, May 1, 2006.
We all have an obligation in these times to participate however we can. Keep it nonviolent, but do not support destructive capitalist activity. Do not buy gas. Try not to spend anything and boycott as much economic activity as possible. If you don't feel well, please don't go to work to spread the germs around!
My Way News conveys a great forecast:
Organizers have timed the action for May Day, a date when workers around the world often march for improved conditions, and have strong support from big labor and the Roman Catholic church. They vow that America's major cities will grind to a halt and its economy will stagger as Latinos walk off their jobs and skip school.
How will you contribute to sending a message that we don't have the society we want?

Are you serious? This whole set of "immigration" stuff absolutely rediculous. How can you advocate that our country and government be bullied into the will of people who have broken the law? You're in NC but its very different here in AZ where we GET alot of illegal aliens who put a significant strain on our public services.
First, I am supporting immigrants because they are workers and deserve better treatment. I am somewhat concerned about making it too easy for greedy corporations to obtain cheap labor, and we need to make sure this is going in a pro-worker, not pro-business direction.
I also see this as a good opportunity to broaden the May Day action, spreading beyond the immigration issue to the fact that the majority of us are very unhappy with how this crumbling empire is being run.
Peaceful, non-violent revolt is a critical positive-Karma action that every American citizen must engage in right now.
I don't think it's going to be as big or diruptive as the media hype says it will be. At least not on a nation wide scale.
conservativetrail head seems to have predicted correctly.
But I hear October 5 might be another chance...
