On Blissful Liberation
Eula and Ran Prieur have been discussing some hazards of the terminology that we use to identify likely future trends. At issue is that "crash," "collapse," and "die-off" are perhaps poor branding choices compared to "involuntary powerdown," "Utopia," or how about "Blissful Liberation from the Capitalists."

Hey, cool to hear from you. I've been thinking about reworking the template into something more original, but been focused more on content lately. Your blog looks great; I'm looking forward to reading more of it when I have a few minutes.
Peace,
Ryvr
I doubt that it'll end up looking like "utopia" within our lifetime. We've got the tough job of simply trying to survive. While words like "collapse" "crash" and "dieoff" may not be good words to get more people interested in what's going down (literally), they are pretty accurate descriptors of what we are going to go through. Well, "crash" and "collapse" do make it sound like it'll happen more quickly than it probably will (like the 5 seconds in which a car crash would take place, or the -9.8 meters per second per second gravity's acceleration of a collapsing building). But die-off doesn't seem too far off to me, as sad as the prospect is. I do like the "blissful liberation from the Capitalists." that i can go for any day.
Tom, there was a touch of tongue in cheek and/or exaggeration to my post here... I think the discussion of the wording from everyone is our struggling with how to deal with some difficult emotions on the subject, and I tend to a little dark humor with the macabre sometimes. I would think that some tribes could establish significant "Utopia's" in our lifetimes, but it is true that there will also be a lot of tragic suffering.
Peace, Ryvr
